How To: Connect Links To The Content From The Admin When Changing Templates Print E-mail

When you change a template on your CRELoaded 6.2 site, such as for the Hosted Account Solution, some links might appear "broken".

When you change a template you are changing the look and style, but some templates use a different order for hard coded links to information pages, such as "Privacy", "Shipping & Returns", etc.  These changes are easily corrected.

Information Pages & Links

From the front of your site, when you see a link page from the top menu, bottom menu or side links, many take you to an "ID" or Information Page.

Identify the Information Page:

1)  Click on the link from the front of your store.  Note the name of the link, and look in the address bar.  In the address bar you should see "Info_ID=" and a number.  For example, when you click a link like, "Shipping & Returns" you might see: http://YourStoreName.com/information.php?info_id=6&osCsid=7330bb8ad6c7286296868c0e257cb94e.

2)  Notice the Info_ID=6

Edit the Information Page:

3)  Log into your Admin

4)  Go to the menu Content Manager and click Info Manager.  This will show you your Information pages.

5)  Look at the ID column. This is the page that the links from your store will connect to when selected.  If you change the templates these numbers might be different.  You can edit these (name, content, etc) from the "pencil & paper icon" on the right of the main menu.

Adding Information Pages:

6)  If you have 4 Info Pages, but one of your links is "info_id=6", then you need to create two new Info Pages.  You can leave Info Page 5 blank and click the "unpublish option".  This can be done by selecting the red circle on the Info Manager menu.  The next page created will have an ID of 6.  This means the page content will be the page that the link form the front of the store will take the user to when it is selected.  To create a new page you only need to select the "New" button at the bottom of the menu.

In short, click on the information links.  The number after the Info_ID= will take the user to that page.  You can add, edit, publish, unpublish, etc these pages from the Admin Info System & Info Manager in your Admin.  Just match the content of the ID for that page to the link and you are done.

How To's: Change your CRELoaded 6.2 Domain Name Print E-mail

Authsafe.com is the placeholder domain we use for sites so that they are visible even when you have not set up your domain yet.  To have it changed to your actual domain name, it just requires a minor change to the configuration file for your store.  This guide provides you with the instructions to change your domain name

Step 1) The file for your domain name is on your server in the location /www/YOURSITENAME/includes/specialconfig.php.

You can edit this file either through FTP or using the FileManager found in the "CPanel" admin tool on your CRELoaded 6.2 Loaded platform.  Both options will work the same, it just depends on your preference.

Step 2) Save a backup copy of the current file (always a great idea with any change)

Step 3)Make the following changes:
Current text:  define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://YOURSITENAME.authsafe.com');

New text: define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.YOURSITENAME.com');

...and...

Current text: define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', YOURSITENAME.authsafe.com');

New text: define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', ‘www.YOURSITENAME.com');

NOTE:
DO NOT change the line referencing the HTTPS_SERVER or HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN.  Your site is configured to have secure checkout and it is necessary to use the subdomain to have it match the secure certificate.

Once you have made these changes in the file, your site pages and links will use your new domain name.  If you have trouble saving your file it is an issue with the write permissions on your file.  You need to FTP the file to your PC, edit the file, change the permission on your Includes/Config file to allow write access, FTP the file back with the same name to replace the file, then change the permission again to write protect the file.

If you need help making this change, let us know!  Inventory Source Support is here to help you.
