How To Work From Home And Sell Drop Ship Products |

We have a varied group of resellers. Some operate in the "brick & mortar" world and others might only operate in the "bits & bites" world of ecommerce. I wanted to provide a few basic thoughts to consider for those members of our network who work primarily or solely out of their home, even if this is only on the weekends.
There are some natural advantages to working from your home. You do not have a morning commute, you can work in your socks and "comfy pants", and there is a natural sense of freedom when you are in your own domain. However, logging hours from your home office can also present some unique challenges. You want your business to be profitable, not just comfortable, so take these steps into consideration: Try to place your office in a "quiet place". I have worked for several different types of firms. I have worked at client locations from a corner office to a boiler closet under a factory floor. It should be no surprise that the quiet locations offer a more comfortable work environment. This is not always easy to do when working from home, especially for those of us with children at home. However, if you have the ability to locate your office or workstation area in a non-high traffic zone, you might find yourself working more productive and less frequent hours.
Rent your office space. Not everyone will have a fully designated office area. You might not have internet access in a room that you can seal off from the daily distractions. Also, you might want to work in an area where you can still monitor the daily on goings of an active household. If you do not have a fully dedicated space at home, then you should consider "renting your office space". You can zone off your space or book a reservation so your family or roommates know when you at work. You should make it clear that the dinning room table is your company's boardroom table for the next few hours. You can put up a sign when the crafts room is your new cubicle space, or mark a schedule on the refrigerator which lets your family know when your corner of the house is your office and when it is open for family fun time.
Have a home work policy. When you work in an office, family and friends understand when they can "stop bye" or how often they can interrupt. Your home office still needs some basic ground rules for family behavior. Set rules and expectations within your family or housemates, so your work time is respected and efficient. You can always put on a tie (even a clip on) or a special pin or hat which lets the family know that you are at work. There is nothing wrong with an irregular work schedule, just make it an efficient schedule. The less interruptions that you have, the sooner you can be done, and relax and spend time with your loved ones!
Regardless of if you work from an office or from home, your family responsibilities will always have to be addressed. The difference between working form your home as opposed to a separate office space, is that it is very easy for these family responsibilities to capture your attention. The more you can establish physical boundaries or accepted ground rules, the easier it will be to have a separation between work time and home time. When you are done with a full day of selling drop ship products and managing your ecommerce business, you will be able to relax on the couch or at the dinner table and feel that you have finally arrived at home.
